Three Temples is launched

Monday, 30 May 2011

Matthew Powell, previously Director of the Savills Hanoi office has departed with Nguyen Dung Minh, former Director of Residential Sales, and Duong Duc Hien, former Associate Director of Investment, have joined forces with an architecture and construction partner to form Three Temples, a design-led property development, investment and branding company.

Three Temples is focusing on developing extremely well-designed and relevant residential properties in Hanoi by direct investment and by collaborating with other like-minded Vietnamese and international investors and developers.

The three have partnered with long-time collaborators and friends at France Vietnam Architecture (FVA) to form Three Temples. FVA is headed by Romain Duval and Pham Ngoc Tuan, who opened their design studio in Hanoi in 2004 after 10 years qualifying and working in France - both graduates of the prestigious Ecole Speciale D’Architecture in Paris, and were both colleagues at the well-known Anthony Bechu studio also in Paris.

Matthew Powell said, “After 6 years working in the real estate sector in Hanoi, we felt it was time for us to develop a new venture. Certainly, the real estate market in Hanoi will have some serious challenges this year but we believe a lot of these issues are related to an oversupply of poorly designed units that don’t really have the end user in mind. We aim to develop high-quality, not necessarily high-value, and excellently designed units that are useful and functional for our target market - not just a financial vehicle. With Three Temples we now have the architecture, design, construction, financial, branding and marketing resources to make this happen.”

Nguyen Dung Minh said, “Having worked in the residential sales sector for some time now, I’ve been able to see close-hand the changing market and desires of Hanoi consumers over recent years. There is change happening with a new breed of residential buyers demanding new standards – we see the niche to develop directly for these buyers in mind; to bring something new to Hanoi. You can see this quality in HK, Bangkok, Singapore etc – why not Hanoi?”

Romain Duval said, “As an architect it has been frustrating to work with many developers in Hanoi as quite often standards slip after the design has been completed. In most developed countries, the architect is in full control of the design and construction process to ensure that quality is maintained. In recent years the majority of my design work has been overseas; Hong Kong, China, Australia, Indonesia, Switzerland…and many others. However, my base and company is here in Hanoi so we decided to create Three Temples to design develop and build in Vietnam according to our standards, and create projects with our partners that we will still be proud of in 50 years.”

Three Temples will be based at 73B Ly Nam De Street in Hanoi.
